Volunteer Fire Department
The Paramus Fire Department is a volunteer department that is made up of 4 fire companies which have a total of 130 members, who are on call around the clock 365 days a year. Over the last several years our number of calls average 1,300 for the year or 3.6 calls a day. The members of the Fire Department meet every Monday night to check the equipment to make sure it is ready to be used in a moment’s notice, and also train in our burn building to keep our skills sharp. Besides meeting every Monday night the members take associated classes throughout the state and even travel to Indianapolis for a week of lectures and live hands on training given by members of the largest fire department's in the United States.
Mission
The Mission Of The Paramus Fire Department is to protect the lives and property of our community which encompasses 10.6 square miles and sits in Central Bergen County at the cross roads of Route 4, 17 and the Garden State Parkway. Paramus has about 26,000 residents, several malls, one of which is the largest in the state and on any average business day our population swells to over 300,000.
