Pool
Established in 1964, the Paramus Municipal Pool is the gem of Paramus, New Jersey. Membership is open to Paramus Residents (proof of residency required) and out-of-town individuals / families. A discount price is available for Senior Citizens, Paramus volunteers and Veterans (more information can be obtained from the pool office). The Paramus Pool provides a fun summer experience for all ages!

- Both monthly memberships will be allowed to use the pool for the days in September. Registration Options:
Borough Hall (in person): Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Thursday evenings until 6:30 PM; excluding Borough Holidays. Open starting April 4.
By Mail: Mail in copies of all your documentation, application with a non refundable check to:

We accept Check, Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express); Cash can only be accepted at Borough Hall; exact change only!
Service Fee: Paying by credit card for memberships will incur a 2.75% service fee.
Military Discount: We offer Veterans and Active Duty Military 50 % off their memberships. Veteran must join to receive the discount. Paramus Veteran ID card or discharge papers will be required as proof upon registration.
Paramus Volunteer First Responders: We offer Paramus volunteer First Responders 50% off their membership. First Responder must join to receive the discount. Letter signed by your Chief will be required upon registration. Forms are available in Borough Hall Pool Office.
Lost Badges: replacement badges $ 20 per badge; NO exceptions!
Pre-Beginners: For children starting at age 4. Designed to orient preschool-age children to the aquatic environment and to begin working on basic aquatic skills such as enter & exit the water, blow bubbles through mouth & nose, go under water, bobbing, front & back glides, retrieve submerged objects and learn how to stay safe in the water. Children MUST be potty trained; no refunds will be provided.
Level II: Water Exploration - For children starting at about age 6. Children learn basics of swimming: bobbing, floating in prone & supine positions, gliding in prone & supine positions, flutter kick in prone & supine positions, front crawl, basic safety rules and jumping in.
Level III: Primary Skills - Children should already to able to: float on front & back and put head under water. Children will work on: floating, gliding, flutter kick, front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, turning over from front to back and back to front, retrieving object and jumping into water over their head.
Level IV: Stroke Readiness - Children should already be able to: swim front and back crawl. Children will work on: gliding, further development of front crawl, back crawl and elementary backstroke, an introduction to side breathing, retrieving object, treading water, jumping into deep water, kneeling dive and compact dive.
Level V: Stroke Development - Children should already be able to: swim front and back crawl 10 yards, elementary backstroke and dive in kneeling and compact position. Children will work on: deep water bobbing, rotary breathing, front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, scissors kick and sidestroke, whip kick and breaststroke, intro to turning at wall, treading water with modified scissors, breaststroke, rotary kicks and diving in stride and standing positions.
Level VI: Stroke Refinement - Children should already be able to: swim front and back crawl 25 yards, elementary backstroke 10 yards, scissors kick, whip kick, treading water, diving and should be familiar with breaststroke. Children will work on: breaststroke, alternate breathing, stride jump, diving from board, long shallow dive, front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, breaststroke, dolphin kick and butterfly, open turn on front and back, feet-first surface dive and treading water.
Level VII: Children should already be able to: swim front and back crawl 50 yards, elementary backstroke 25 yards, breaststroke 25 yards, butterfly 25 yards, sidestroke 10 yards, tread water for 3 minutes and dive. Children will work on: All six strokes, front and back crawl flip turn, breaststroke turn, breaststroke speed turn and pullout, butterfly turn, sidestroke turn, pike and tuck surface dive, pike and tuck dive from board, tread water for 5 minutes and basic water rescue.
To participate on swim team, swimmers 10 years of age and under must, at minimum, be able to swim 25 meters using 2 different strokes. Swimmers 11 years of age and over must, at minimum, be able to swim 50 meters using 2 different strokes. Practice runs Monday to Friday 8:45 AM to 10:00 AM.
To participate on dive team, a diver must, at minimum, perform 2 different dives off the board. Practice runs Monday to Friday 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
A non-refundable registration fee of $50 is charged per child payable to the Paramus Municipal Pool (checks only). Swim/Dive team Parents Association dues and swimsuits are an additional charge.
Note: To participate on the swim or dive team, the participant MUST be a full season member of the pool.
